Air delivery, circa 1800

"The Flying Irwin" is a steampunk-style traveling vendor hot air balloon thing (?) built by Legopard and Brick Vader. The ramshackle design and all those little details make it a very interesting MOC to look at!

Maintenance pod

Some LEGO builders are really good at making mecha and other small robotic creations by combining a ton of small pieces in ways that can only be described as "amazing." In fact, the first Flickr comment on this Lightweight Maintenance Pod by Grantmasters is from my co-blogger Aaron, and it just says "You genius." I have not yet mastered this building style, but the tubes, clips, and other greebly parts' effect on the aesthetic of this model means it's a must-blog.

Iron Maiden

"The Imperial's Iron Maiden is one of the most versatile heavy hitters in the fleet. Her 12 great cannons oscillate like pistons on a well tuned engine, flexing in and out to the rhythm of her iron heart. While she is able to be airborne for high speed direct routes, she really outshines the rest when at home in the water. She is faithfully able to turn on a dime and repel most all attacks with her iron hide."
This is Sean and Steph Mayo's fifteenth entry into their Iron Builder battle against Nannan Zhang and Tyler Clites, and it's just as good as the first fourteen. I don't know how they do it! You can follow this round on Flickr here.

The name's Tesla... Nikola Tesla

Steampunk and secret agents? I'm sold.
Nice build by Dead Frog inc. You can check out the "Agents of the Imperial Crown" contest that this was built for here.

(This seems to have been modeled after the 70162 Infearno Interception set from the Ultra Agents theme.)

Keep calm and vaporize

All that 'ask questions first' nonsense is an enormous humbug, I say. When you're on one of those confounded savage planets, the best thing to do is shoot any blasted thing that moves and assume that there are more ugly chaps out there." -Duke Hugh A. Fitzgeraldson VI
A Plastic Infinity's style really shines through in his latest MOC, which seems to depict a sort of steampunk/space mash-up. The clusters of mushrooms and pits of... acid green stuff (?) look fantastic. Plus, that minifig is hilarious... I love the idea that he wears his top hat in space and has a wind-up ray gun. Nice build.

Rockwork and clockwork

This MOC by David Collins (intrond) has all the makings of a great fantasy scene. A great steampunk giant stomps through a fabled land: through forested plains, along rivers, past castles and bridges...
There's a lot to like here but I think my favorite parts are the palace and the rockwork leading up to it. The microscale boat in the river is also a nice touch and it (along with the trees) gives a sense of scale. That is one huge giant...

The Steam Wars continue with Legopard

Legopard has been churning out vehicles for FBTB's steampunk Star Wars contest. I blogged his steampunk take on the Slave I already, but he's built three more "Steam Wars" vehicles while I wasn't paying attention! They're all awesome, so what the heck, I'll just blog them all.

First up is this interpretation of Zam Wesell's KORO-2 speeder. The whole thing is pretty slick, but if you look closely you'll notice some nice part uses as well. I can see wagon wheels, a clown horn, and a whole lot of robot arms.
Then we have this retro-futuristic AT-TE walker, built with plenty of nice greebly barrels, ladders, and HERO FACTORY joints:
And finally, my personal favorite- the HyperSteam Ring:
Be sure to check out the FBTB Steam Wars contest to see more awesome Steam Wars MOCs!

It's getting steamy in here

Here's a nice steampunk creation that, somewhat refreshingly at this point, has nothing to do with Star Wars.
Bartosz Kacprzyk (the oneman) is the builder. I especially like the use of the ship rigging, treasure chests, welding tool, and the pink umbrella.

Luke Steamwalker's Steamspeeder

It looks like steampunk/Star Wars combo MOCs are a thing right now, as exemplified by the Steampunk Slave I I posted earlier this month. I'm a big Star Wars fan (isn't everyone, really?) and I love the greebly aesthetic of steampunk, so these models are great to my eyes. This steampunk take on Luke Skywalker's landspeeder by Âtin makes great use of propellers, grilles, and other textured and mechanical parts to convey a stripped-down, antique look that still has style. Nice build.

X34 Landsteamer

Another day, another MOC blogged by the talented and prolific pasakaru76. He usually builds anime characters but when he ventures into spaceships and other sci-fi concepts the results are stunning. This "Landsteamer" vehicle reminds me a bit of Luke's landspeeder vehicle from Star Wars.*
I love the plate-with-side-rings used to create steam, as well as the transition from smooth lines to the greebly texture of the engines. Nice work.

*Interestingly enough, another Star Wars/steampunk MOC recently made the rounds on several LEGO blogs; you can see my post on it here.

Steam Wars

Over to MOCpages now for a fantastic Star Wars/steampunk mashup MOC by Legopard. This steampunk Slave I is covered with greebles and great little touches like a furnished interior, chains, dark green detailing, and the little key on the front.
I never thought I'd see a mustached Boba Fett :D
