That's one of the best words I know, and also one of the most obscure: it means "the act of working studiously at night," but the literal definition of the original Latin elucubrare is "to compose by lamplight." If I was going to elucubrate, I'd want one of these fantastic miniature desk lamps built by Kosmas Santosa (kosbrick) to illuminate my workspace.
